Description
Water bamboo is a perennial aquatic plant of the grass family. The edible part of wild rice is the shoot-like stem stimulated by the parasitic fungus Zizania moschata at the base, which is edible when young. The leaves are elongated and lanceolate, with flat veins with bristles on the surface, and the leaf margin is membranous and sharp like a knife blade, with a triangular ligule at the base of the leaf and the sheath.
